FEAST Conversations are a set of walks, and conversations that take place over a weekend in Soho. These conversations can take place in a café, and open studio, or larger venue. They can also take place as organised walks, or as conversations that take place on the radio.
The aim is to cover the map of soho with vibrant conversations that are performed, archived, embellished, produced and published into a series of Radiolab style podcasts.
# Radio Conference
While Soho Conversations works as a Soho Community Festival in a purely local context, it is perhaps more interesting as a debate, or conversation, that is of international interest.
Many of the themes that simply holding a set of conversations in Soho brings up, are relevant far outside of it's geographic location. The central theme that comes up time and time again is the issue of Regeneration and Gentrification. The tension between the interests of property owners and developers, and those of artists, independent thought and of local and historical culture.
There is an international aspect of these conversations as they can be held in cafés homes and places of interest in Soho anywhere the world.
Due to the low cost and sustainability of these events we can seek to encourage similar conversations in other parts of the world. See Soho's Around The World
# Themes
The Soho Themes that we look to define and explore in this event are of particular relevance to many communities around the world, and it may be interesting to reach out to these communities and hold conversations in other places around the world, as well as looking to engage listeners to take part from home.
